COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification is suitable for people wanting to work with school-aged children in vacation care programs and out of school hours services.

Students will learn how to run a before and after school care and/or vacation care service, including planning, implementing and managing programs which address regulatory and duty of care requirements.

DELIVERY MODE AND LOCATION

The Diploma of School Age Education and Care is delivered in a blended mode of classroom training and workplace. All classroom training is held in our state of the art facilities at 3 Columbia Court, Baulkham Hills. Work placements can be organised at a location to suit the student.

COURSE DURATION

This course is delivered over 70 weeks, including 6 terms of 10 weeks each and 10 weeks of holidays.  Students will attend classes for three days a week. This includes a mandatory work placement of 240 hours which will be completed during terms  two, three and four outside of classroom hours.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students must be at least 18 years of age and must have completed at least the equivalent of Year 12.

Students will be required to have a language, literacy and numeracy skills to ACSF Level 3 and will be required to complete a LLN test prior to enrolment to determine whether this level is met.   If the student does not meet this level they will be referred to external support services for language, literacy and numeracy development and may enroll when the required ACSF level is reached.

TUITION FEES

$4,000

Payment terms are as follows:

$1,000 paid on enrolment and five further payments of $600 at the commencement of terms two, three, four, five and six.
